Transcranial Magnetic Simulation (TMS)

When traditional depression or OCD treatments and medications aren’t enough, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) may be the answer.

How Rogers incorporates TMS

Sometimes hope comes in non-traditional ways. Neurostar® TMS is an FDA-approved, non-invasive option for adults, and can be used as part of your overall treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD) or OCD.  When other more traditional therapies haven’t provided adequate symptom relief, TMS may be the solution.

What to expect with TMS

During treatment with TMS, you sit in a specially designed chair and targeted magnetic pulses are used to increase blood flow to areas of the brain most impacted by treatment resistant depression or OCD. Because TMS doesn’t require sedation, you can sit back, read, listen to music, or simply relax. TMS has no effect on your alertness, so you can drive home after your session and get back to your normal activities.

TMS sessions typically take about 20 minutes and are scheduled five days a week for four to six weeks depending on how you respond to the treatment. You can expect to begin feeling symptom relief after four to six weeks, but full relief may not take place until after treatment is completed.

“TMS stimulated areas of my brain that had been inactive…I was steadily improving. I was slowly building upwards. My work performance improved, I was able to sleep because my anxiety wasn’t so bad, and I can honestly say it helped me immensely.”
