How to support children with autism spectrum disorder and mental health challenges

As a parent or caretaker, how can you best support a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), especially if they are experiencing mental health challenges?

Julia (McAndrews) Mefferd, lead child and adolescent therapist at Rogers in Skokie, Illinois, shares four tips to help children succeed in the video above.

“If you as a parent know that something is difficult and your child is not experiencing life in the fullest way they possibly can, trust that,” explains Julia. “Continue to meet with people that help you feel empowered to get your child to their goals and living the life that they deserve.”
